Our RS Series rope shields help protect your boat’s water lubricated stern bearing from entanglement in marine debris.  They can be mounted to our bronze stern bearing housings or modified to fit our shaft tube (stern tube) assemblies.

Here’s How They Work:

The bronze ring “caps” off the end of your boat’s stern bearing (or shaft tube) protecting the exposed rubber channels while allowing adequate water flow.

Rope shields can be ordered with all new RE Thomas Marine Hardware stern bearing housings.  Existing stern bearings can be easily machined to accept the rope shield.

Maintaining Adequate Water Flow:

Our rope shields are precision machined to ensure adequate water flow is maintained across the water lubricated bearing. This is done by ensuring sufficient annulus clearance between the propeller shaft and ID of the rope shield.
