The first is a propeller shaft sizing calculator that helps you determine the correct diameter shaft to use in your boat. The calculator is based on the ABYC recommended shaft diameter formula for a given safety factor. We designed the calculator to load fast and provided additional context to assist in selecting the right shaft.
The second feature on our site is a propeller shaft bearing calculator. This calculator is based on the ABYC formula for determining the maximum unsupported shaft length between two bearings. The calculator is also designed to load fast and provides additional context on the importance of proper shaft bearing installation.
Although these formulas are available on other websites, they are hard to find and in some cases require a subscription fee to use. We hope you find these new tools helpful in understanding how propeller shaft diameters and shaft bearing spacing are calculated.
